What made you decide to run for Safety Harbor City Commission?

The recent presidential election made me realize I would like to become more involved in my city government.

What do you think is the most important issue facing Safety Harbor today?

Keeping the charm of our city intact- it’s why people move here and visit from all over the world.

What are your thoughts on the state of the downtown development in as it relates to businesses as well as residential properties (i.e. smart growth)?

Growth is inevitable but let’s take everything into consideration ie- environment, infrastructure and traffic. Before leaping ahead to overdevelopment.

What is your position on the R2 lot setbacks issue?

I think it was the right decision.

What would you like to see happen with the Firmenich property?

Medical Arts complex or other business park

What would you like to see happen with future development of the Waterfront Park?

I like what’s happening now. It’s beautiful just as it is. The board walk will be a nice feature. I would consider Hard cover picnic shelters along the perimeter of the park.

If you could do one thing to stimulate economic growth in the city, what would it be?

Promote more Arts in the community- The Chalkfest is going on 10 years and draws artists from across the country and even artists from Italy. SHAMC is now open and have been doing classes for young and old. They have regular national artists coming to the Center to perform- all these are open to the public. I think it’s a great way to bring people into town and spending money at our local businesses

Name an issue you believe is not getting the attention it deserves or that is especially meaningful to you

The Arts

If you were to be elected on March 14, what would your priorities be for the city, and what are your long-term goals for Safety Harbor’s future?

Be an active promoter to get people in the Tampa Bay area to be aware of all that our city offers.

Any final thoughts?

I love our town. We all do. I am not attached to any special interest group, nor do I have an agenda. I’m objective and want to be a voice for the people in my community
