Trump or Hillary: Are You Creating the President You Hate?
Whether you are for Trump or Hillary, are you creating the President you hate?
As I observe what is being posted on social media, I am seeing an increasing number of my loving, peaceful, compassionate friends posting messages of anger, frustration and hatred. I expect this from the other party, but as I’ve said in previous blogs, there really is no other, there is only us. Wouldn’t it be nice if we could all behave as us kindness and respect?
The Law of Attraction says that which you focus on expands. This is especially true if you focus with strong emotion. Through our concentration and attention, we bring forth not only what we want to manifest in our lives, but also what we do not want to see come to pass.
“She’s a dishonest, arrogant, warmonger.”
“He’s a racist, misogynistic, hothead.”
If we keep our focus on these qualities, it matters not which candidate wins, we will call forth these very qualities that we so abhor and create a warmongering, misogynistic, hotheaded, dishonest president.
Surely we will have areas of disagreement and criticism towards the opposing candidate. That’s an integral part of the two party system. But we can express our differences with a civility that befits the nation in which we live.
Rather than posting the horrific qualities of the opposing candidate, we can post the qualities of our candidate that would make for a good president.
As I think of the qualities I want in a president, these words come to mind: honorable, capable, statesman/stateswoman, fiscally savvy, experienced, capable of bringing out the best in a two-party system to reach consensus. And yes, faithful to the Constitution and its amendments that all are created equal, endowed with rights and protection.
As I turn to Facebook and Twitter I long to see not the qualities that my friends and followers detest in the opposition, but the qualities they truly want in our next president.

Hi Amy,
My friend Barbara Finkelstein just told me about you so I went to your blog and enjoyed reading about you, your life in Safety Harbor and some of your views about life in general. I will have to email back to Barbara to make sure you are who she was telling me about. But it doesn’t really matter. I so enjoy your point of view. To find a soul who looks for the good in folks, a rare and cherished quality in my book. I will take more time another day to read more of your blog. But I wanted to tell you I so agree. There has to be a way to disagree without being mean to one another. The only thing I know to do is to do what you seem to do, demonstrate. State a point of view with love and respect as part of it. So keep on keeping on. I am glad I found you. Best to you and yours, Shirley
Shirley – What a delight to have connected with a friend of Barbara’s through my blog. Thank you for your uplifting words.A
Pay no attention to that man behind the gray curtain. Your blogs are ALWAYS full of heart, intelligence, and courage.
Freedom of speech on both sides. Thanks for your encouraging words, Deb.

We respect everyone’s opinions and invite your comments to give those opinions but please refrain from derogatory comments toward others. Thank you for your consideration.
Hey Safety,
DK,s gray curtain remark was the first salvo. Keep it real.
Thank you Michael. We’ve replied the same to DK as well.

Hi Amy,
See I said you could do better. My last reply about your support for the Soros funded BLM group wasn’t well received by your adoring followers. Your more recent writing about your surprise to find that SH actually has a thriving population of minorities, when one only has to follow the railroad tracks north of Main to confirm the mix of ethnicity in our city and it took how long to figure that out? Seemed a little disingenuous. Anyway, I’m glad to read a more tempered Amy. I only hope the best person for our wonderful country will win the coming election in November. Please keep in mind it is difficult to heal when we hear negative rhetoric from the leader. As for my opinion. GO TRUMP! ?
Welcome back, Michael. Do I detect a big or a compliment hidden in your words? Thanks for continuing to read my blog, even though you don’t necessarily agree with me.
Spell check: bit of a compliment
Amy, my compliment is sincere and not hidden as I believe some of your word smithing to be. I’m sure your thoughts are heart felt and meant more for the DK type of follower. My replies are civil pushback for the parts I disagree with. We both seem to agree with amendment I freedom of speech, so let your voice be heard.
Thanks Amy. You are so right on! Thank you for reminding me–and others–about the law of attraction. We do need to stop and think!
Thank you, Skip. Glad to connect with someone who knows the Law of Attraction.
Amen. Time for more positive messages. Feed the heart, not the trolls.
Thanks for the comment, Noreen. Love your last sentence.
Interesting, never heard this expression before.
And thank you, Amy, for once again being a calming positive influence in these crazy times. What happened to the people in this country??
Thanks, Gisela. Calming and positive are what I’m aiming for.
