Safety Harbor Library Dedicates Story Time Room
The Safety Harbor Public Library is proud to announce the naming of the Lois Spencer Story Time Room in honor of longtime resident, library supporter and volunteer, Lois Spencer. As a 28 year library volunteer, Mrs. Spencer was awarded the Volunteer of the Year award several times in her career and is best remembered for her annual Christmas story times where she portrayed Mrs. Claus.
A donation was made to the Chrissie Elmore Library Trust Fund by her husband Joe Spencer in her honor. The Story Time Room is a place of early literacy, learning, and joy, something Mrs. Spencer left us with to honor her. She loved her local library and had a piggy bank in her store on Main Street, Safety Harbor Antiques and Collectibles to collect donations to the library she held dear. Mrs. Spencer passed away July 5, 2014.
The Library is located at 101 2nd Street N., Safety Harbor. For more information, call 724-1525 x 4106.
I am proud of my stepmother, Lois, who volunteered and supported faithfully for years in the library where she loved. Being a Mrs. Claus role, she never gave up to entertain everyone. I heartfeltly thank you for having a dedicated place in the honor of Lois Spencer. ~ Jo Ellen (Joe’s daughter)
That’s great news! Thank you, Mr. Spencer. A worthy tribute to a wonderful lady!
What a wonderful gesture. I’m proud that our library honored Lois Spencer in this way.
