How can you tell the holiday season is officially over? The Safety Harbor City Commission is back in session!

Yes, the local government body meets tonight for the first time in 2014 following a three week winter holiday hiatus.

And while there are no real major items on the agenda this week, there are a couple of issues that should be of interest to residents of the community, including:

  • A request to allow a Dunkin’ Donuts to be built in the Oakwood Plaza on McMullen Booth Road. Following an initial delay, the proposal was approved by the planning and zoning board last month.
  • Two items relating to school concurrency and the elimination of mandatory requirements of residential developments built near public schools.
  • An ordinance concerning menu boards and wall signage for businesses.
  • A vote on a new alternate member for the code enforcement board.

In addition to these items, the commission will read a proclamation declaring Monday, January 6, 2014 as Jeanne Frymire day in the city. Ms. Frymire is celebrating her 100th birthday today!

The Safety Harbor City Commission meets at City Hall, located at 750 Main Street in downtown Safety Harbor. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 7:30.
