The purpose of the event is to raise awareness about mentoring and the need for it in our local community. The festival has a goal of creating 200 new mentors to make a lasting difference in several children’s lives.

Project Primavera relocated its headquarters in June of 2015 from West Palm Beach to Palm Harbor. The organization helps orphans and at-risk youth through music and mentorship. Project Primavera sends artists and musicians on tours to share with their audiences about mentoring and partners with organizations like Big Brothers Big Sisters and Youth Villages. While on these tours the artists perform free music workshops for various children’s homes and detention centers. Locally they started the Primavera Music Program that gives free professional music lessons to children in foster care through The Sheriff’s Youth Ranch. The program is expanding this year to include an inner city youth music program in Safety Harbor.

This is a music festival that has a star-studded lineup that includes some of South Florida’s most popular acts. The bill includes local funk superstars THE BLACK HONKEYS, folk rock legends HAVE GUN, WILL TRAVEL, country music’s outstanding group SOUL CIRCUS COWBOYS. The show is closed out by headliner ETHAN PARKER jamming to a choreographed fireworks show.

The festival is also featuring a food truck celebration featuring some of Tampa’s most popular food trucks including Maggie on the Move and I WANNA WOK.  It features an Art Expo that has some of South Florida’s finest artists. The kid’s zone includes bounce houses, a petting zoo, and a rock climbing wall, the easter bunny, and a 45,000 easter egg drop.

This is a free event to the public but it is a charity fundraiser and Premium Reserved Seating is available for $ 25, an inclusive VIP Experience is available for $ 100.

The event is sponsored by The Clearwater Marine Aquarium, Dick Norris Buick GMC, Harborside Christian Church, Coca-Cola, Crooked Thumb Brewery, Chic-Fil-A, Sand Ovations, Magic 94.9, Wild Fields Market, Ignite Chiropractic, State Farm Insurance and TBT.

  1. Great lineup! I’m also looking forward to the egg drop on the waterfront park’s “great lawn.” I love that open space, a rare park feature in our almost built-out county. One issue: The city needs to address illegal parking on the N Bayshore sidewalk during events. We should educate visitors in event communications about where parking is legal and typically available (perhaps a nice map of on-street and lot parking locations). Sidewalks need to be clear for safe passage by pedestrians (especially those who conscientiously leave their vehicles parked at home). Parking warnings and tickets also build awareness of pedestrian safety laws.

    • Post script: …and, especially, especially those who cannot drive beacause of age or ability and rely on sidewalks as a primary means of mobility.
