LEARN:  Want to learn a language or brush up for that trip to Europe or brush up on your computer skills?  Visit our website and you can learn one of 80 languages with Pronunciator.  Build conversational skills using interactive online drills, quizzes, downloadable audio lessons and phrasebooks, covering vocabulary and conversation to make learning fun. Apps are also available for Apple and Android. Do you need to hone your computer skills or just got an iPad or e-Reader and need some tips?  Sign up for one of our computer classes or schedule a one-on-one session.

SAVE:  Did you resolve to save money and also love music?  Try out Freegal!  Download five songs a week for free.  Did you get an e-reader for Christmas or Hanukah and want to download free e-books?  Check out 3M, Axis 360, and OverDrive for our electronic and audio books.  Want to stream films?  Visit IndieFlix, offering free independent movies of all genres.

GENEALOGY RESEARCH: If your resolution includes researching your family history, Ancestry,  available inside any Pinellas County Library, provides access to US census data, immigration information, passenger lists, birth, marriage, death, and military records, plus tools to create family tree records.

HEALTH:  Did you resolve to exercise and eat better?  Check our DVDs on yoga, Zumba, or weight training, or find a new cookbook packed with healthy recipes.  If you live close to the Library, make it a walking destination and return your items on foot, burning calories and saving the fuel at the same time.

SMALL BUSINESS:  If you always wanted to start a small business or have questions about your existing enterprise, the Library has numerous books and resources, such as AtoZDatabases, to help with your marketing and business plans. You can also schedule a counseling session with a SCORE representative to get your specific questions answered.

VOLUNTEER:  If you vowed to volunteer and give back, the Library has opportunities in all facets of the Library, including tutors for English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL).  Visit the Library Supporter page on our website for more information.  

WRITE:  Have you resolved to put your pen to paper and write the next great American novel or short story? Creative Writers & Story Circle Group meets every third Wednesday at 6:00 pm and Safety Harbor Writers and Poets meet fourth Thursdays at 6:00 pm.  Join them for writing guidance.

LAND THAT JOB: Utilize public PCs to create and print a new resume and email potential employers. Our trained librarians are here to assist you.

EXPAND YOUR HORIZONS:  Attend any number of our free programs or speakers on various topics for adults and children.  You may even make some new friends when you are here.

Begin Your Writing Journey: Thursday, January 15, 6:30 pm. Local author Laura Kepner will share tips on finding an agent, publisher, and what it takes to accomplish your writing goals.

Here’s to the Ladies Who Scat – An Evening of Jazz: Thursday, January 29, 6:30 pm.  Swing with jazz vocalist Christiana Drapkin and her dynamic band on a joyous romp through Jazz Standards with a special nod to some of the greatest female vocalists of all time!

Preschool Story Time: (Ages 2-5 years) Wednesdays, January 7, 14, 21, & 28, 10:30 am.  

Baby & Me: (Ages 18 months and under) Fridays, January 9, 16, 23, & 30, 10:00 am. Listen to stories, sing songs, and learn finger plays, followed by a play session.  

Starlite Puppet Show: (Ages 10 & under) Saturday, January 3, 10:30 am.

Wee Discoveries: (Ages 2-5 years) Tuesday, January 6, 10:30 am. Age-appropriate discovery stations designed to encourage creativity in learning with STEM goals in mind.  Adult participation required.

Story Yoga: (3-9 years) Wednesday, January 7, 4:00 pm.
