Friends of the Library have big plans for October
By The Friends of the Safety Harbor Library have a busy October. Their annual membership gala is set for Thursday, October 16 at 7:00 pm with entertainment by comedian Juanita Lolita, runner-up as Central Florida Funniest comedian and a finalist in the Florida’s Funniest Comedian contest.
Preceding the program, the Friends will host a wine and cheese membership event starting at 6:30 pm. Individuals who join or renew their membership during this event will be entered to win a gift card to local restaurant. Raffle tickets will also be available for the Friends 4th Annual Wine Festival Gift Basket fundraiser. Over 20 themed baskets will be on display at the Library beginning October 1. Tickets are only $1.00 each or six for $5.00, available at the check-out desk. Winning tickets will be drawn on Monday, November 3.
Visit the Friends Book Sale on Saturday, October 4, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm. All genres of books, DVDs, music CDs and more are available, with most items only a $1.00. All proceeds directly benefit library programs and technology. The Friends Book Store is open daily during library operating hours.
Consider becoming a member of the Friends of the Library. They are always looking for fresh ideas and new friends to support membership and fundraising efforts. Citywide Scavenger Hunt: Saturday, October 18, 11:00 am. This family-friendly event will start at the library where teams will gather, then collect clues hidden at local businesses, and places in Downtown Safety Harbor. Friends Membership Gala featuring Comedian Juanita Lolita: Thursday, October 16. Wine and cheese mingle at 6:30 pm. Show starts at 7:00 pm with the comedian, Juanita Lolita. The show is free and open to the public. All renewal and new memberships are entered to win a $25 gift card to a local restaurant!

Tobacco Free Florida: Tools To Quit: Saturday, October 4, 10:00 am -12:00 pm. This smoking cessation program provides guidance on preparing a quitting plan, end cravings, discusses physical and emotional symptoms, and provides free cessation products. Toddler Time: (Ages 18 months to 3 years) Mondays, October 6, 13, 20, & 27, 10:30 am. Bring your young one to the library to listen to stories, sing songs, dance, and do finger plays.
Preschool Story Time: (Ages 2-5 years) Wednesdays, October 1, 8, 15, 22, & 29, 10:30 am. Read stories, sing songs, do a craft, and participate in other fun literary activities.
Baby & Me: (Ages 18 months and under) Fridays, October 3, 10, 17, & 24, 10:00 am. Enjoy special time with your baby while you listen to stories, sing songs, and learn finger plays, followed by a play session.
