Sen. Marco Rubio Staffers To Visit Safety Harbor
Staffers from United States senator Marco Rubio‘s office will be at the Safety Harbor Public Library on Tuesday, August 12 to answer questions and listen to comments from residents, according to library officials.
“Rachel Crew, Staff Assistant, to U.S. Senator Marco Rubio set up a reservation for a table in our lobby,” adult services librarian Desiree A. Spano told Safety Harbor Connect.com.
“She will be interacting with the public, listening to concerns on the issues and taking notes for the Senator while offering Staff Office services to the public.”
According to a press release for the event, Crew will listen to concerns regarding Social Security, Medicare, veterans’ benefits, immigration, the IRS or any federal agency.
Rubio, who previously served as Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives from 2007 – 2009, has been the junior state senator from Florida since January 2011.
The conservative Republican was considered a potential running mate for Presidential candidate Mitt Romney during the last election, and many have considered him to be a potential candidate for the party’s presidential nomination in the next election.
SHPL director Lisa Kothe said the facility plays host to these types of meet and greets from time to time, regardless of party affiliation.
“It’s a just a public service we provide,” Kothe wrote Safety Harbor Connect. “We’ll do it for anyone that asks, within reason.”
