Library Announces T-Shirt Fundraiser to Raise Funds for Local History Project
Help us preserve local history by purchasing a t-shirt and show your love for the Library at the same time. Beginning now and during Love your Library Month in February, t-shirts will be available for purchase online at https://www.booster.com/loveyourlibrary to raise funds to digitize the historic Safety Harbor Herald newspapers. Shirts are $20.00 and available in youth, women’s and men’s sizes. Supporters that purchase a shirt will be notified via email when it is available for pick up at the Library.
The Safety Harbor Public Library currently has over 1,000 pages of historic Safety Harbor Herald newspapers with scattered dates ranging from 1925 through 1989 preserved and accessible to the public, encapsulated in a Mylar sleeves. In 2010, the Library was awarded a grant from the Pinellas Public Library Cooperative to further preserve the Safety Harbor Herald collection. The newspapers were digitized and can be found online via the Library’s website, www.SafetyHarborLibrary.com.
In summer 2013, the Library received a donation of additional newspapers from the Safety Harbor Museum and Cultural Center. The Library would like to add these to the digital collection to further preserve the history of Safety Harbor and the surrounding area. This fundraiser will assist in the digitization costs of the donated newspapers and allow them to be shared online with the world. Help us preserve local history by purchasing a t-shirt and enabling this valuable collection to be shared with historians and citizens interested the area’s past.
The library is located at 101 2nd Street N., Safety Harbor, FL 34695. For more information, email lkothe@cityofsafetyharbor.com
