Mosaic Class at Tupelo on 4th!

Come and celebrate the 4th of July with us at Tupelo on 4th and take part in our first mosaic workshop in the new studio. Come alone or bring friends and family, no experience necessary! Class details: Taught by Rochelle Rose Schueler and Melissa Haist. Students will choose either a 10 x 10 mirror or an 8½ x 10½ picture frame and learn all of the steps necessary to create a beautiful glass mosaic. A wide variety of glass will be available in class, including stained glass, vitreous glass, glass gems, smalti and mirror. Come with a design in mind or let us help you use one of our templates. Friday night, July 3 from 6-8:30 P.M. Students will view a brief slide show on the history of mosaics followed by a live demonstration covering the various types of tesserae (tile, glass etc.) available, how to use different mosaic tools, and what adhesives are best with various substrates. The second day of class will begin Saturday, July 4 from 11-4:00P.M. The day will be devoted to glass cutting and setting. A grouting demonstration will be done at the end of the day and individual containers of grout will be given out. All students will take their mosaic artwork home and grout on their own. Handouts will be given at the end the workshop listing all of the steps covered in class so that you can design and create mosaics on your own. Please feel free to stick around town after class and join us at 5:00P.M.at the Safety Harbor Marina for the best fireworks display in Tampa Bay. There will be childrens activities, live entertainment, food vendors and plenty of fun for the whole family. Fireworks start at 9:00P.M.
