Toy Exhibit Takes Guests “Back To Their Childhood”

No matter what era you grew up in, chances are toys played a big part in your growth from a wide-eyed kid into a wizened adult.
That’s what makes the new “Girls & Boys & Their Toys” exhibit at the Safety Harbor Museum and Cultural Center so neat.
The exhibit, which runs through the end of August, features hundreds of toys from over the decades, and you’ll find everything from building blocks to robots to Cabbage Patch Kids on display.
“”Girls & Boys & Their Toys’ is a temporary exhibit on display from July through August made possible by the 501c3 non-profit Museum Board & members of the community,” museum director Shannon Shafer told Safety Harbor Connect.
“Part of the show is a traveling exhibit from the state of Florida, and community members have also graciously loaned the Museum & Cultural Center their private toy collections.”
“Viewing the exhibit will take adults back to their childhood days,” she added.
“Children will learn the history of how different toys were made, and there is even a small play area fully equipped with Puppet theater and building blocks.”
So no matter your age or gender, head over to the museum on South Bayshore Boulevard to reminisce over the toys of your childhood while you try to explain to your tween how chunks of colored wood and dolls with adoption papers really were cool!
The Safety Harbor Museum & Cultural Center is open Monday through Friday from 9am – 5pm. There is a suggested donation of $4.00 to visit the museum.
