Fizz

School is out this week, and summer at the Library means kids programs galore, summer reading, and beating the heat with a good book.  This summer, we have a jam packed schedule of free summer events for kids to make any parent or caregiver a happy camper.   Our special Tuesday afternoon youth programs all begin at 1:00 pm.  One hundred fifty free tickets will be given out first come, first served, at 12:30 pm the day of the program.  Our kick off and closing Reading Parties begin at 2:00 pm.  Reading logs can be picked up in the Youth Department anytime.  Get your Summer Reading Logs and get ready to read, have fun, and earn prizes!  Special thanks to the Friends of the Library for sponsoring our summer programs!

Summer Reading Kick-off Party: Monday, June 9, 2:00-4:00 pm.  Celebrate reading with this year’s theme, “Fizz, Boom, Read!” with a free book give-away, games, crafts and snacks.

Timeless Tales Theatre:  Tuesday, June 10, 1:00 pm. See these talented actors perform the story of Aladdin.

Tricky Dogs Show:  Tuesday, June 17, 1:00 pm.  A comedy dog act starring seven little dogs and their human!

Juggling with Dan Brown: Tuesday, June 24, 1:00 pm.  Exciting and entertaining routines of professional juggler, Dan Brown.

Animal Stories of the Amazon Rainforest: Tuesday, July 1, 1:00 pm.  Learn about protecting our rainforest animals from Katie Adams and her puppets.

Matt Edmonds:  Wonders of Nature. Tuesday, July 8.  Two shows to choose from, 11:30 am and 1:00 pm. A fantastic wildlife show starring parrots, raptors, and other animals.

Leah’s Cartooning:  Tuesday, July 15, 1:00 pm.  Discover your drawing abilities with this fun science themed class.  Registration required.  

Mr. McWiz: Unbelievable Science Experiments. Tuesday, July 22, 1:00 pm.  Award winning Mr. McWiz will stimulate your child’s natural love of learning with hands-on science fun.  

Tampa Taiko Japanese Drumming: Tuesday, July 29, 1:00 pm.  Enjoy a dynamic drumming style that puts the BOOM in our summer reading program.

Special Friday Programs:

Mad Science: Dry Ice Capades!  Friday, June 27, 4:00 pm. Explore the 3 states of matter and see how cool cold can be.  Turn water into ice in 30 seconds, watch quarters shiver and experience how metals can scream when it gets cold and more!  Registration required.  

Mad Science: Fizz, Boom, Read!  Friday, July 25, 4:00 pm.  An interactive event sure to get kids inspired to read more about science! A Coke-and-Mentos FIZZY fountain, amazing centrifugal forces, and more. Registration required. 

End-of-Summer Reading Pizza Party: Friday, August 1, 2:00-4:00 pm.  Children who have completed their Summer Reading Logs can participate in this free pizza party!  Registration required.
