WP_20150713_024At a CoderDojo session, young people learn how to write code, develop websites, apps, games and more. Dojos are setup, run by and taught by volunteers and are free for participants.

Safety Harbor Public Library joined the CoderDojo movement in June 2015. We run several six week courses throughout the year and are looking for mentors to join our team of volunteers. It’s a great opportunity to get involved in a fun, creative, and worthwhile youth technology movement.

Our next session begins February 11, on Thursdays, February 11, 18, 25, and March 3, 10, 17 from 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm. Our spring session begins April 5, on Tuesdays, April 5, 12, 19, and May 3, 10, 17 from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm.  Our sessions teach about 25 kids about web technologies and programming. Topics include HTML/CSS, Scratch, Python, AppInventor, Minecraft, and Arduino/Raspberry Pi.

If you have any coding experience or other skills that would be useful to CoderDojo and would like to apply to become a mentor (over 18 please), contact Anastasia Underwood, 727-724-1525 extension 4104, or aunderwood@cityofsafetyharbor.com.  The Library is located at 101 2nd Street N., Safety Harbor, FL.
