Bands & Beer on the Bay

Featuring The Black Honkeys, craft beer from the Crooked Thumb Brewery and a Wings Thowdown, all for charity.

Where: Safety Harbor Waterfront Park, 110 Veterans Memorial Lane, Safety Harbor.

When: 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, May 20, 2017.

Tickets: $5 general admission and a limited number of $60 VIP are available online at mwnfc.org or at the Mattie Williams Neighborhood Family Center, 1003 Dr. MLK Jr. St. N., Safety Harbor, (727) 791-8255. $5 tickets will also be sold at the gates.

Benefit: The Kiwanis Club of Safety Harbor and the Mattie Williams Neighborhood Family Center have partnered again to present the 2nd annual Bands & Beer on the Bay, a music festival at Safety Harbor’s Waterfront Park featuring a Wings Throwdown, food trucks, local craft beers and four bands. Proceeds will be split between the two nonprofits to fund programs benefiting children and families.

WINGS THROWDOWN 4 p.m.

Wings Throwdown tickets (six wings for $5) will be sold at the event and are limited. Participants will vote on “Bands & Beer, Best Wings.”

SCHEDULE OF BANDS 4 -10 p.m.

• 4 p.m. Jeriko Turnpike, nominated for Creative Loafing “Best of the Bay” awards in 2016, is a vintage rock and roll band known for distinctive melodies, thunderous grooving drums and beautifully textured guitars.
• 5:30 p.m. Hard Luck Society is a popular Gainsville band known for “catchy, Dixie-landish Americana with a folksy bent.” Its repertoire includes old jazz standards to Western Swing to Rockabilly and everything in between.
• 7 p.m. Four Star Riot, a Tampa Bay rock and roll band that, over the course of multiple releases, has consistently delivered stick-in-your-head pop/rock choruses with a punchy and dynamic mix.
• 8:30 p.m. The Black Honkeys, a popular Tampa Bay area R&B, funk, soul, and rock and roll band, play a high-energy mix of covers and originals.  They’ve been voted “Best Local Band in the Tampa Bay Area” 4 years running, in Creative Loafing’s “Best of the Bay.”

BEER 4 p.m-9:45 p.m.

Craft brews from Crooked Thumb Brewery for just $5, wine from Ed’s Fine Wine’s, Miller Lite and other Miller selections also will be available for $5, or purchase a $17 beer/wine pass good for 4 drinks.

FOOD TRUCKS 4-10 p.m.

Eight food trucks will be onsite during the event for your dining and snacking pleasure.

CHARITY

Net proceeds will be split between two local nonprofits: The Mattie Williams Neighborhood Family Center and the Kiwanis Club of Safety Harbor to fund programs benefiting children and families.
